Color My Folder freeware allows you to optimize this routine the best. The software will add right click entry to Windows Explorer context menu, right click on a folder and choose Color My Folder. Then choose a color from the Colors sub menu. The colors are Mars, Fruit, Aureolin, Harlequin, Azure, Amethyst, Cadet, Solar.

The Reset function allows going back to original color, Force Change will Kill Explorer.exe and restart it to apply changes.
